Advancing Thyroid Care: Dr. Richard Harding Participates in NASIT 2026

The 2026 North American Society for Interventional Thyroidology (NASIT) Conference brought together leading clinicians from around the world to discuss the latest advances in thyroid ablation and image‑guided endocrine procedures. This year’s meeting in Oregon highlighted how rapidly nonsurgical thyroid treatments are evolving — and how these innovations are reshaping patient care in the United States.

Dr. Richard Harding attended NASIT 2026 to collaborate with global experts and continue expanding the treatment options available to patients seeking alternatives to traditional thyroid surgery.

Learning from a Global Pioneer in Thyroid Ablation

A central focus of the conference was the keynote presentation by Dr. Jung Hwan Baek, MD, PhD, internationally recognized for pioneering modern thyroid ablation techniques.

Over the past 24 years, Dr. Baek has led major advancements in:

  • Radiofrequency ablation (RFA)

  • Ethanol ablation (EA)

  • Core needle biopsy

  • AI‑assisted thyroid imaging and diagnostics

  • Clinical trials in thyroid and neck interventions

His work at Asan Medical Center in Seoul has helped establish global standards for minimally invasive thyroid care.

Why This Matters for Patients

For many individuals with thyroid nodules, goiters, or recurrent thyroid cancer, treatment options are no longer limited to surgery alone.

Image‑guided procedures such as RFA can:

  • Preserve thyroid function

  • Avoid a neck incision

  • Reduce recovery time

  • Lower complication risks

  • Provide effective treatment for select benign and malignant conditions

These techniques complement — not replace — the full spectrum of surgical and interventional care. For patients who still require surgery, minimally invasive approaches remain a cornerstone of safe and effective treatment.

Dr. Harding’s Commitment to Comprehensive Thyroid Care

“Learning directly from pioneers like Dr. Baek reinforces why interventional thyroidology is transforming patient care. His decades of innovation continue to push the field forward, and I’m committed to bringing these minimally‑invasive, evidence‑based techniques to the patients I serve. Our goal is always the same — effective treatment with the smallest possible impact on a patient’s life,” said Dr. Harding.

By staying engaged with global leaders and emerging technologies, Dr. Harding ensures that patients at Arizona Endocrine Surgery have access to the full range of modern thyroid treatment options — from advanced ablation procedures to expert surgical care when needed.

Last year, Dr. Harding brought Nano Field Pulsed Ablation (nsPFA) to the treatments available for thyroid nodule treatment, and this year he adds Microwave Ablation (MWA) to the minimally invasive surgical treatment available at the Thyroid Nodule Treatment Center connected to Arizona Endocrine Surgery.
