CellFX nsPFA (Nanosecond Pulsed Field Ablation) is an emerging, non-thermal technology developed by Pulse Biosciences for the treatment of benign thyroid nodules. It offers a minimally invasive alternative to surgery, using ultra-short electrical pulses to ablate targeted tissue while preserving surrounding structures.
What Is CellFX nsPFA?
- nsPFA stands for nanosecond pulsed field ablation.
- It uses non-thermal electrical pulses (each less than 100 nanoseconds) to disrupt cell membranes and induce cell death.
- Unlike radiofrequency ablation (RFA), it does not rely on heat, reducing the risk of damage to nearby nerves, blood vessels, or glands.
